PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material in which the lightness of a white ground is improved and through which no ground can be seen (the shielding property) when a proof color image (a color proof) is made. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic sensitive material which has at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one nonphotosensitive layer on a development paper substrate, the silver halide photographic sensitive material has the following characteristics i.e., the transmissivity of the substrate at 560 nm is 30% or more, and it has a layer that contains 0.1 or 1.5 g/m2 of white pigment between the substrate and the silver halide emulsion layer.
