<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device having a photonic crystal structure in which an optical integrated circuit can be easily formed. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a first electrode, an electro-optic substrate made of a solid material formed on one surface of the first electrode, a photonic crystal region made of a solid material formed in the electro-optical substrate, a second electrode patterned on the surface of the photonic crystal region opposing to the first electrode, a means to apply a voltage between the first electrode and second electrode, a means to allow light to enter the photonic crystal region under the second electrode, and a means to receive the light guided by the photonic crystal region under the second electrode.</p> |
