PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of accurately evaluating the effect of a medicine on symptoms accompanied by itch such as atopic dermatitis by using an animal model and to provide a screening method using the same. SOLUTION: This device 10 for detecting repeated action of an animal has an annular coil 28 and a processing part 30. The coil 28 surrounds a space 24 capable of housing the animal 42 equipped with a permanent magnet 44 and converts changes in magnetic flux corresponding to the actions of the animal into changes in electric current. The processing part 30 counts the number of repetitions of repeated actions from the changes in the current. This device can be used, for example, to screen a compound having an antipruritic activity.
