PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear mechanism of a screw compressor easy in adjusting timing gears for regulating the rotating timing of a screw rotor so as to optimize a sealing space by a meshing tooth and firmly fixing the timing gears on a rotor shaft. SOLUTION: A taper part 91 is formed on the rotor shaft 9a for installing one 22 of a pair of timing gears 2 (21 and 22) being a helical gear, and the taper part 91 is fitted to a shaft hole 24 of one timing gear 22 forming a taper surface having the same gradient as this taper part 91. The twist direction of a tooth trace of the timing gears 2 (21 and 22) is decided so as to generate thrust force for pressing the timing gear 22 in the screw rotor 9 direction.
