PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water stop cock capable of performing washing of a strainer even in the cock open condition. SOLUTION: A flow passage 2 is formed in a cock body 1, and in the passage, 2 a plug element 9 is installed having a through hole 9b and making opening and closing of the flow passage 2 by its rotation, and a strainer 13 is installed at the plug element 9 in such a way that its opening 13a is positioned while coinciding with the through hole 9b, and thus the intended water stop cock is established, wherein the strainer 13 is provided with an opening 13b separately from the opening 13a and the cock body 1 and/or plug element 9 is furnished with a water drain passage 7 in such a way as capable of being opened and closed for generating a communication to the inside of the strainer 13 through the opening 13b.
