PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately hold a work member on a holding member for holding the work member of a working device without damaging the work member. SOLUTION: In a method for holding the work member 1 by a holding means for working, suction holes 2E are arranged in a holding surface of the holding member 2 connected to a suction means, an intermediate member 4 having hardness smaller than hardness of the work member 1 is arranged on the holding member 2, a hole for communicating with the suction hole 2E of the holding member 2 is arranged in the intermediate member 4, the work member 1 is arranged on the intermediate member 4, and the work member 1 is held by the holding member 2 via the intermediate member 4 by the sucking action of the suction means.
