PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solidified substance, and a solidifying method therefor, capable of being solidified without generating a problem of flowing from a slide gap of a cylinder and a piston while containing a fine grinding sludge. SOLUTION: The solidified substance B of this grinding sludge is a solidified substance obtained by solidifying a coolant-containing grinding sludge generated at a grinding line of the quenching part to a cylindrical shape by a pressing. An axial center part is made to be a fine sludge part Ba comprising a grinding sludge having a fine grain size and both side parts are made to be a rough sludge part Bb comprising a grinding sludge having a rough grain size. The pressing is carried out by placing the fine grinding sludge Sa at a center of a cylinder 40 and the rough grinding sludge Sb at both sides thereof and pressurizing them with pistons 41, 42.
