Moving the lock release handle (29) into the unlocking position swings the catch hook (12) back into position, opposing the rotary force applied by the striker (8). The lock (1) has a roller catch with a slot (15) for receiving a striker, the catch being urged along a curved path from a locking position into a safety position as the striker is moved. An Independent claim is also included for a bonnet lock with a roller catch held in place by a latch whose locking or release position is monitored by a sensor.
