PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretching method for stretching a polymer film by applying tension thereto while holding both ends of the film and hard to generate the breaking of the film at the contact part with a holding means, a polarizing film excellent in polarizing capacity manufactured by the stretching method, a polarizing plate efficiently obtained from the polarizing film of which the transmission axis direction is inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the film and a liquid crystal display device using ther polarizing plate. SOLUTION: In a polymer film stretching method, both ends of the continuously supplied polymer film is held by a holding means and tension is applied to this film in this state to stretch the film and, at this time, the content X1 of a volatile component of the film at the contact part with the holding means and the content X2 of the volatile component of the film at the stretched part satisfy X2>X1×1.3. The polarizing film manufactured by this method, a polarizing plate wherein a protective layer is provided on the polarizing film and the liquid crystal display device using the polarizing plate are provided. |
