<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treatment of waste water which cannot only separate/remove dissolved selenium, or dissolved selenium and oxidizing substances from a waste water containing selenium but also reduce the amount of generated sludge as much as possible, and in particular which is very suitable for treating the large amounts of the waste water containing selenium such as the waste water from desulfurization of flue gas. SOLUTION: In the method for treatment of waste water containing selenium, dissolved selenium in the waste water is removed from waste water in such a way that the waste water containing dissolved selenium is brought into contact with at least a kind of iron based metal selected from a group comprising Fe, Mn, Ni and Cu, that the precipitate deposited in the obtained waste water to be treated is solid-liquid separated, and that the reaction zone where the waste water is brought into contact with iron based metal is controlled in a poor oxygen condition compared with air, thereby efficiently separating and removing dissolved selenium, and also reducing as much as possible the amount of the generated sludge.</p> |
