PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool changer having the simple constitution for changing the adding and arranging direction of tools, allowed to miniaturize the whole device, and allowed to perform replacing operation including a direction change in the tools in a short time. SOLUTION: The tools 19 extending in the almost horizontal direction and installed on plural main spindles 28 juxtaposed in the horizontal direction are simultaneously replaced with the other plural tools 19 by a tool changing arm 33. The plural tools 19 are housed in and held by respective tool holding parts 18 of a tool magazine 27 so as to turn in the X direction at a right angle to the axis of the main spindles 18 and to be arranged in the vertical direction in a state of being held by a tool pot 29. The plural tools 19 are transferred between the tool changing arm 33 and the respective tool holding parts 28 of the tool magazine 27 by a movement of a tool loader 39 in a state of being held by the tool pot 29. The tool loader 39 is rotated with an inclined rotary shaft 41 as the center in the middle of a movement, an attitude of the tool pot 29 is changed, and the arranging direction of the plural tools 19 is changed.
