PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the labor required heretofore and to enhance the efficiency of decontamination treatment in decontaminating transformers contaminated with PCBs, more particularly transformer winding iron cores and windings by a solvent decontamination method. SOLUTION: In subjecting the PCB transformers or the transformers contaminated with the PCBs to solvent decontamination in a cleaning drum, the laminated steel sheets of the iron cores 2 are put in the state of removing fixing brackets and the windings 3 into the cleaning drum and are rotated, by which the windings 3 held attached with the insulating paper or cloth on the surfaces are cut to chips. The transformers are decontaminated by being rotated in the cleaning drum.
