An electromagnetic machine has a rotor (9), a stator (8), at least one magnet for the generation of the excitation field and at least one induction coil with core. The induction coil and the magnet for the generation of the excitation field are arranged on the stator. The excitation field penetrates the induction coil in its axial direction. At least one screening magnet (10) is provided, designed as a flat magnet whose length and width are greater than the diameter of the coil core which is arranged vertically to the direction of the excitation field, can be moved vertically to the direction of the excitation field and whose neutral centre sweeps over the end side of the coil core with movement.
