PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a combustion exhaust gas, in which ammonia contained in the waste water obtained by desulfurization or the waste water obtained by washing the collected fly ash is recovered and the recovered ammonia is added to the gas after denitration. SOLUTION: The solution obtained by desulfurization is filtered by using calcium carbonate, the pH of the obtained filtrate is adjusted and carbon dioxide and/or carbonate aqueous solution are added to the pH-adjusted filtrate, to which a flocculant is then added so that solid component is settled and separated and ammonia is recovered from the supernatant liquid.
