PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of restraining vibration and impact due to movement of a coy reading section and a printing section, requiring a small driving force of the copy reading section and the printing section and downsizing a unit. SOLUTION: An ink jet printer has copy reading sections 20 scanning a copy D in the width direction for reading the image of the copy, and printing sections 21 executing printing to recording paper P by an ink jet system by scanning in the width direction of the recording paper P. The copy D and the recording paper P are transported in a common transport route, and a belt 25 conveying a driving force from a common driving source 26 is arranged in the form of an endless loop so that the straight portions on both sides may extend laterally of the transport route, and the copy reading sections 20 and the printing sections 21 are attached to the straight portions located in a nearly diagonal position with respect to the center C of the loop of the belt 25.
