PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device with a cap evenly pressuring the bottom surface of a printing head in a capping operation and a cap disposed certainly at a lower position with respect to the bottom surface of the printing head without a capping operation. SOLUTION: This device comprises a printing head 17d, a movable slide member 31, a supporting member 35 with a cap 49 fixed, a supporting means 42 for supporting the slide member 31 and the supporting member 35, and a first forcing means 45 and a second forcing means 48 for functioning on the supporting member 35, wherein the supporting means 35 is supported at a low position by at least the force of the second forcing means 48 in the case the slide member 31 is disposed on one side.
