A thrust collar is arranged coaxially to the side gears secured to a differential case. A friction clutch assembly includes the inner and outer friction plates coupled to the respective thrust collar and the case, to restrict the frictional rotation of the side gears. A selectively controllable actuator assembly axially displaces the thrust collar to load the friction clutch assembly.
