PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the electrolytic treatment of sludge in organic wastewater treatment equipment and sludge treatment equipment, capable of reducing the generation amount of sludge and obtaining the enhancing effect of dehydration properties. SOLUTION: In the organic wastewater treatment equipment having a reaction process for applying aerobic biological treatment to organic wastewater, a solid-liquid separation process for separating the liquid sent from the reaction process into sludge and treated water and a return process for returning a part of sludge drawn out of the solid-liquid separation process to the reaction process or the process prior to the reaction process through a return line 3, at least a part of the sludge of the return line 3 is guided to an electrolytic system 10 and an organic substance 6 containing a protein component and/or an iron compound 60 is added to the sludge and, next, this sludge is brought into contact with the anode of an electrolytic cell to be subjected to electrolytic oxidation treatment and the treated sludge is returned to the return line 3.
