PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mending a multilayer coating film by which a mended part of the coating film and the remaining part are made similar in appearance and look to each other and mending is easily carried out. SOLUTION: The method for mending a multilayer coating film obtained by forming a base coating film and a clear coating film on a substrate comprises a step for exposing a part of the base coating film to be mended by grinding and a step for coating the part to be mended (n) times (n>=2) with coating materials for mending. A coating material for i-th mending (n>=i) has a lower concentration of a pigment than a coating material for (i-1)-th mending.
