PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting machine capable of easily controlling the cutout depth of a cutting object, reducing noise at cutting time, and preventing damage to a cutter blade at initial setting time. SOLUTION: This cutting machine is provided with a mounting block 7 for placing the cutting object 12, a cutter 21 having the cutter blade 28 for cutting the cutting object 12, a cutter driving part 36 for moving the cutter 21 to an optional height position, a detecting part 35 for detecting the height of the cutter blade 28, and a reference stage 35a having the almost same height as the mounting block 7, and when the tip of the cutter blade 28 contacts with the reference stage 35a, the detecting part 35 outputs a detecting signal.
