PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main spindle device capable of reliably preventing the occurrence of an accident, such as seizure of a bearing, by rapidly and reliably detecting shortage of a feed of lubricating oil when reduction of a lubrication oil feed amount occurs. SOLUTION: In the main spindle device 1 using an ultramicro oil lubrication system lubricating device 110 to feed lubricating oil, discharged by an ultramicro lubricating oil pump 5, through a nozzle 20 to a lubrication spot in a feed of lubricating oil to rolling bearings 16 and 17 supporting a main spindle 15 a lubrication abnormality detecting means 120 is provided to detect abnormality of a feed state of lubricating oil to the rolling bearings 16 and 17 when the fluctuation width of the drive force of an electric motor 23 right after shot of lubricating oil deviated from a standard range by monitoring the drive force of the electric motor 23 to rotationally drive the main spindle 15.
