METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYMER-LIQUID CRYSTAL MICROCAPSULE USING SWELLING/PHASE SEPARATION TECHNIQUES

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for more effectively and simply producing a polymer-liquid crystal microcapsule, which optionally controls the size of a liquid crystal according to swelling degree. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (i) dispersing a polymer particle in aqueous solution containing 0.1-0.3% surfactant, (ii) emulsifying a reactive monomer containing liquid crystal in aqueous solution containing 0.1-0.3% emulsifier, slowly stirring the resulting emulsion at 25-30 deg.C and swelling the emulsion, and (iii) polymerizing the monomer to induce a phase separation, so as to prepare a polymer-liquid crystal capsule containing monodisperse liquid crystal particles.
