PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene encoding a protein estimated to have the activity of uromodulin. SOLUTION: An isolated polynucleotide comprising a polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of a polynucleotide having at least 70% of identity to a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids in a specific sequence and originating from homo, a polynucleotide by the multiplicity of a gene code encoding the same amino acids as the sequence, a polynucleotide complimentary to the above-described polynucleotide, and a polynucleotide comprising at least fifteen continuous bases of the above-described polynucleotide.
