On both sides of the web (30) there is a driven, continuous pressing band (48, 50) led with it through the felted pressing nip (38). Preferred features: The pressing bands are for dewatering. The nip is double-felted, felts and web being led through between the pressing bands. At least one shoe pressing unit is formed by a shoe pressing roller and the consolidation band (44, 46) is formed by the casing of this roller. The pressing plane passing through the nip is inclined with respect to the vertical at 10 deg -45 deg . At least one pressing band has an open surface. The surface includes blind holes and/or grooves. At least one is a screen. It is passed over a roller with a channel for water thrown off the band. The return roller has a scraper. It is driven. A further driven return roller carries the press band. One roller is a regulation roller. Both band pressing surfaces have the same hardness. They are closed and smooth. Through the double-felted nip, a non marking, symmetrical dewatering felt is led. The press bands are led separately from the consolidation bands outside the pressing gap and participate in rolling regulation.
