PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance working efficiency in visual inspection of a block belt for a belt-type continuously variable transmission which is constituted with blocks w, w,... to be inspected at both sides in the cross direction of belts in the order or lamination in a cartridge. SOLUTION: The block laminate body W is held alternately at both sides by a pair of closeable holders 20, 20. Compression coil springs 50 are provided on the individual holders 20 for energizing the holders 20 in the closing direction and opening cylinders 60 are provided separately from the holders 20 for opening the holders 20 against the energizing force of the spring 50. Furthermore, moving cylinders are provided for approaching/separating movement of both holders 20, 20 in the cross direction of the blocks, on which the holders 20 are detachably mounted.
