PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the transplantation miss by the shift of planting timing caused by the resistance applied to a cutter or a transfer and planting tool with the irregular upper surface of a levee and to prevent the damage of a sweet potato seedling in the case of planting the seedling by thrusting the planting tool into the soil. SOLUTION: The transplanter is provided with a planting frame 33 vertically movable relative to the traveling body 2. The power of an engine 6 is transmitted to the frame by a work-part driving case 34 fixed to the planting frame 33. A transfer and planting tool 48 is attached to a tool-driving shaft 27 driven by the work part driving case 34. The planting tool 48 is provided with a claw 88 for the transplantation of vegetable seedling, the transplantation claw 88 is opened or closed in conjunction with the rotation of the planting tool 48 and a groove-forming blade 49 is attached to the planting tool 48. The groove- forming blade 49 is protruded from or retracted in the planting tool 48 by a crank mechanism 102. A groove is formed on a levee by scraping the upper surface U of the levee with the groove-forming blade 49 and a vegetable seedling is planted in the formed groove.
