A computer readable storage medium being capable of recording a large amount of still picture (1) data thereon, allowing users to make a search based on recording times, and reducing the data size of recording time information, a recording apparatus, and a playback apparatus. When recording still pictures on a large-capacity storage medium, management information on recording times becomes so large that it becomes hard for the recording apparatus and the playback apparatus to process. To minimize the amount of data for managing still picture recording times, N (N is an integer equal to or larger than 1.) still pictures are grouped and, for each group, a first still picture recording time (F_RECTM) (7) and a last still picture recording (8) time are recorded as management information.
