A partly-fluorinated hydrocarbon (HFC) derived from propane or butane is used for the production of plastic foam from a composition containing at least 50 wt% styrene polymer, polypropylene or polyethylene, with an alternative blowing agent partly consisting of HFC, preferably with carbon dioxide and nitrogen and water.
