The invention relates to a method for exchanging data between a first data processing device (1) and a second data processing device (2), whereby the first data processing device (1) provides data in a first data format by request from the second data processing device (2). The inventive method involves the following steps: verifying whether the first data format can be understood by the second data processing device (2), and; converting the data into a second data format, which can be understood by the second data processing device if the first data format is not understood.
