1331126 Colouring synthetic resins CIBAGEIGY AG 13 Aug 1971 38183/71 Headings C3P and C3R [Also in Divisions B2 and C4] Stoving lacquers, and PVC and polypropylene sheets are coloured in brown shades using a pigment of formula where R is H or CH 3 . In an example, a stoving lacquer comprising 20 g. of TiO 2 , 40 g. of a 60% solution of a coconut alkyd resin in xylene, 24 g. of a 50% solution of a melamine resin in butanol, 8 g. of xylene, 7 g. of ethylene glycol monomethyl ether and 1 g. of the above pigment is dispersed in a ball mill for 72 hours, sprayed on to an aluminium foil and stoved for 30 minutes at 120‹ C. A polypropylene sheet is prepared by mixing 100 g. of polypropylene granules, 1À0 g. of TiO 2 and 0À1 g. of the above pigment on a roll mill, plasticizing the resulting coloured granules and pressing at 170‹ C. to form a sheet. A plasticized PVC film is prepared by mixing 60 g. of a rinsed emulsion PVC, 32 g. of dioctylphthalate, 33 g. of an epoxidized soya oil as plasticizer, 1À5 g. of stabilizer, 0À5 g. of a chelating agent, 5 g. of TiO 2 and 0À5 g. of the above pigment, at 160‹ C. on a roll mill. The preparation of a rigid PVC sheet is also exemplified, used 100 g. of a suspension PVC and 3 g. of epoxidized soya oil. |
