Simultaneous leather hydration and sealing - using mixt contg chlorohydrocarbon, non-ionic surfactant and an alkarylsul

The mixt. used comprises equal amts. of (1) a non-inflammable chlorohydrocarbon (2) a non-ionic surfactant and (3) a Na, K, NH4+ or thiethylamine alkylaryl sulphonate. (2) is pref. a polyglycol ether of an alkyl phenol or a fatty alcohol. Treatment time at room temp. is short - 1/2 hr. rather than several hours for three year old sheep leather-and large sheets can be treated.
