摘要 PURPOSE: Absorption chiller leak detection and a method for inspecting dehydrogenation cells are provided to sense leak of a chiller at an early stage without stopping the chiller and exactly check a leak position. CONSTITUTION: An absorption chiller system with automatic leak detection comprises an absorption chiller(13) having metal parts and an exterior surface, and contains a water vapor absorbing fluid at pressure well below atmospheric pressure; a hydrogen detector(33) disposed in fluid communication with the interior of the chiller, to provide a measure of the concentration of hydrogen in the interior; a helium sprayer(40) for spraying the external surface with helium; and helium detector(43) in fluid communication with the interior of the chiller to detect an increase in helium concentration within the chiller, to indicate proximity of the sprayer to a leak. The fluid communication includes at least one of a membrane(44) passing light gases but blocks liquid water and water vapor and a water vapor trap(46). The fluid, in the presence of air leaked into the chiller, corrodes the metal parts and in turn releases hydrogen gas.
