PURPOSE: An apparatus for disconnecting a dummy bar from a slab in a continuous casting machine is provided which enables continuous casting operation, prevents facility accidents and stabilizes production and facilities by rotating a dummy bar ascending roll according to the proceeding of the slab when there is something wrong with a hydraulic unit, thereby allowing the slab to be moved. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for disconnecting a dummy bar from a slab in a continuous casting machine is characterized in that it is equipped with a dummy bar ascending roll(10) which is ascended or descended by a plural hydraulic cylinders(5a,5b), wherein the dummy bar ascending roll(10) is connected to a weight(32) at the lower part of the frame through a rotatable frame so that the dummy bar ascending roll(10) is rotated during the movement of the slab(116), thereby allowing the slab(116) to be moved, and the dummy bar ascending roll(10) is returned to its position by a dead load of the weight(32) when the movement of the slab(116) is completed.
