PURPOSE: A method for managing alarm signals from a transmission equipment is provided to reduce the traffic of data transmission due to an alarm signal by making an operation part independently suppress or display a sub alarm when only the generation state and release state of an alarm signal are reported. CONSTITUTION: A shelf, monitoring each of the components of a transmission equipment, judges whether an alarm is generated(S200). In case that it is judged that an alarm has been generated, the shelf writes/stores the information of the generated alarm information in a database and transmits it to an operation part(S210). Also the shelf carries out alarm suppression in order to prevent a sub alarm from being displayed if it is generated(S220). The shelf judge whether the generated alarm was released(S230). If the generated alarm was released, the shelf releases alarm suppression, writes/stores associated information in the database, and transmits it to the operation part(S240). The shelf judges whether the sub alarm of the released-processed alarm is being maintained(S250). In case that the sub alarm of the released-processed alarm is being maintained, the shelf writes/stores the information of the sub alarm in the database and transmits it to the operation part(S260).
