A communications system (100) for communicating a first information signal (102) and a different second information signal (104) includes an electrically conductive channel (110) having a first node (114) and a spaced-apart second node (116). A voltage modulator (120), that is electrically coupled to the electrically conductive channel (110), is responsive to the first information signal (102). The voltage modulator (120) drives a voltage onto the electrically conductive channel (110) corresponding to the first information signal (102). A current modulator (180), that is electrically coupled to the electrically conductive channel (110), is responsive to the second information signal (104). The current modulator (180) drives a current onto the electrically conductive channel (110) corresponding to the second information signal (104). A voltage demodulator (160), that is electrically coupled to the electrically conductive channel (110), senses the voltage on the electrically conductive channel (110) and demodulates the voltage to regenerate the first information signal (102). |
