PURPOSE: A computer peripheral device and a method for interfacing the same are provided to use a calculation resource which is previously existed in predetermined environment, supply an exchange connection device based on an open type architecture having a LAN integrating a PBX function when a power is connected to a personal computer, and supply a basic KTS(Korea Telecommunication Standards) as a switched connection function when a power is disconnected to the computer or a connection from the computer is released. CONSTITUTION: An exchange connection device(10) comprises a host computer(12) having a USB port, a peripheral exchange connection device(14), a telephone unit(16), a trunk jack(18) connected to a trunk line(20), a transmission path(24), a subscriber line interface(26) connected to the telephone unit(16) through the transmission path(24), and a host USB port(21) connected to a device USB port(23) for forming a USB interface(30) through a USB cable(22). The host computer(12) is connected to the peripheral exchange connection device(14) through the USB interface(30). The host computer(12) exchanges data, a command signal, and constitution information with respect to the peripheral exchange connection device(14) through the USB interface(30). Thus, an application program operated in the host computer(12)performs an interface with the peripheral exchange connection device(14) for passing a command, a request, and data for controlling an operation of an electric communication device as the telephone unit(16).
