PURPOSE: To provide an optical recording medium preventing easy flawing of a surface, particularly an optical recording medium not requiring housing in a cartridge. CONSTITUTION: In this optical recording medium, a recording layer 2, a cover layer 3 comprising a high polymer material, and a protective layer 4 are sequentially laminated, and information of the recording layer 2 is read by irradiating light with a recording/reproducing wavelength of >=40 nm by a numerical aperture of an optical system of >=0.74 from a side of the protective layer 4. The protective layer 4 has a hardness of >=1000 kg/mm¬2 and a thickness of < =4.66μm. |
