PURPOSE: A process of preparing a gel composition by dispersing a thickening agent in ethanol, adding water to the dispersion, dissolving an antimicrobial flavor material and humectant in residual ethanol and then adding to the dispersion is provided. Whereby, the gel composition has no problems on residual toxicity and oral toxicity, is excellent in volatile and can be frequently used in disinfecting hands. CONSTITUTION: This antimicrobial gel composition comprises 50 to 60% by weight of ethanol, 0.1 to 0.5% by weight of an antimicrobial flavor material, 1.0 to 3.0% by weight of a humectant such as propylene glycol or ethylene glycol and 0.5 to 1.0% by weight of a thickening agent such as hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose. The antimicrobial flavor material is one or more selected from lemon, lime, eucalyptus, thyme, menthol, methyl salicylate and thymol.
