PURPOSE: A toll or parking fee collection method is provided, to allow a toll or a parking fee to be calculated and charged automatically without stopping running cars, thereby preventing traffic jam. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of taking a picture a number plate(2) by using cameras(40,50) installed in the entrance and the exit of a toll road or a toll parking place; transferring the picture by wire or wireless method; extracting the area of a number plate through the image of the taken picture; recognizing whether the extracted area is the number of a car; determining whether there is error in the recognized number plate; modifying the error in the central process center(80) if there is error; storing the image and the recognition result in the database(81) of the central process center; calculating the frequency and the distance of the car by using the stored data and calculating a toll or parking fee; and charging the toll or parking fee. |
