PURPOSE: A method for processing a gray level display of a plasma display panel is provided, which reduces an image quality degradation and at the same time assures a good gray level display of S/N ratio, by increasing a display gray level without increasing a sub field. CONSTITUTION: A gray level increasing part(20) comprises delay units(21-25), adder unit(26-29), line delay units(30,31), an average calculation unit(32) and a selector(33). 8 bit Digital image data converted by an A/D converter is output as 10 bit data by a Y reverse correction calculation. The gray level increasing part divides these 10 bit data into upper 8 bit and lower 2 bit data respectively. The gray level increasing part calculates an average of lower 2 bit of a pixel block comprising four adjacent pixels put on an adjacent line of a PDP, and adds a display minimum level value selectively as to 8 bit data of each pixel on the basis of the above calculation result. |
