PURPOSE: To obtain satisfactory frequency characteristics with respect to sound pressure and oscillation amplitude by allowing only a single resonance mode to occur in an electrostatic speaker device. CONSTITUTION: Fixed electrodes 20a and 20b are divided into plural electrode pieces 21a, 21a, 21b, 21b, etc., and driving signals with different voltages are applied to respective divided electrode pieces so that the distribution of a driving force applied to a diaphragm 40 may be proportional to the displacement distribution in the facial direction of the natural oscillation mode of the diaphragm.
