PURPOSE: A device and a method for adjusting the position of a belt pulley of a continuously variable transmission are provided to enhance continuously variable speed change efficiency by minimizing the departure of a metal belt. CONSTITUTION: A device for adjusting the position of a belt pulley of a continuously variable transmission comprises a drive shaft, a drive pulley(40) consisting of a first fixed pulley(42) fixed on the drive shaft and a first movable pulley(44), a driven shaft, a driven pulley(50) consisting of a second fixed pulley(52) fixed on the driven shaft and a second movable pulley(54), a first bearing(46) supporting the rotation of the first fixed pulley, a bearing spacer(48) adjusting the axial assembling tolerance of the first fixed pulley, a second bearing(56) supporting the rotation of the second fixed pulley, and a bearing fixing plate(58) installed between the second bearing and the second fixed pulley and restraining the movement of the second fixed pulley. The position of the drive pulley and the driven pulley is determined easily by setting up the position of the first bearing of the drive pulley.
