PURPOSE: An escaping unit used in a large bus is provided to allow occupants to escape from the large bus when a vehicle accident occurs by breaking a side window with handling a knob. CONSTITUTION: A ledge(100) is provided above an occupant's seat(20). A window breaking device(200) is stored in the ledge(100) so as to allow the occupants to break the side window to escape from a bus when vehicle accident occurs. The window breaking device(200) includes a hammer(210), a stopper(220), an actuator(230) and a knob(240). The hammer(210) is installed at an inner side of the ledge(100) and rotatably supported towards the side window. The hammer(210) is elastically supported by a one-way spring(211) such that the hammer strongly makes contact with the side window. The stopper(220) is rotatably installed so as to temporarily stop the rotation of the hammer(210). The actuator(230) is electrically connected to the knob(240) so as to rotate the stopper(220).
