PURPOSE: Provided are a polyester film which can easily form a film, which shows little residual stress when processed, and excellent processibility, and a method for making the same. CONSTITUTION: The polyester film predominantly comprises polyethylene terephthalate obtained by reaction of dimethyl terephthalate and ethylene glycol, and polybutylene terephthalate obtained by reaction of dimethyl terephthalate and tetramethylene glycol. The tetramethylene glycol component is 30-60 mol% of total diol component. The polyester film comprises at least one of dimethyl isophthalate or neopentyl glycol, as additional components. The sum of contents of additional components is 5-20 mol% of dimethyl terephthalate.
