DEVICE FOR DECODING TURBO CODE USING CHANNEL INFORMATION AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A device for decoding a turbo code using channel information and a method thereof are provided to decrease a decode delay of a turbo code and supply a high quality and high speed multimedia service stably by applying a signal to interference ratio of an estimated channel to a repetitious decode count control using channel information being received in a receiving unit in case that a turbo code is used in a wireless communication system. CONSTITUTION: Channel estimation units(210,211) estimate a pilot channel signal being received from a sending end or a channel status of a pilot symbol signal and estimate a signal to interference ratio. A comparator(220) compares the signal to interference ratio estimated from the channel estimation units(210,211) with a pre-estimated critical value and outputs repetitious decode count control information. A switch(230) is provided for controlling the number of repetitious decodes in accordance with the repetitious decode count control information from the comparator(220). A decoding unit(240) is provided for performing a repetitious decode as much as the number controlled in the switch(230).
