PURPOSE: A locking apparatus is provided to simply maintain an inclined state of a turntable of an index table by applying hydraulic pressure into a fluid passage formed in the index table. CONSTITUTION: An index table(1) is provided to fix a workpiece on an upper surface of a turntable(2). A body(3) of the index table(1) is installed at a lower portion of the turntable(2). The first shaft(4) is installed at one side of the body(3). The first supporting member(5) is provided to rotatably support the first shaft(4). A following gear(6) is connected to an end of the first shaft(4). A driving gear(7) engaged with the following gear(6) is connected to a motor(8). The second shaft(9) arranged in line with the first shaft(4) is installed at the other side of the body(3). The second supporting member(10) is provided to rotatably support the second shaft(9). A locking apparatus is provided to fix the second shaft(9) such that the turntable(2) is maintained in an inclined state. The locking apparatus includes a braking member(11), a locking member, and a brake housing(13).
