The sharpening device for a skate fits onto the skate blade (S) and is moved relatively to it. It is provided with a slot with an aperture for insertion of the skate blade and sharpening material is arranged in the bottom of the slot. The slot is formed between two parts movable relatively to each other in order to receive the skat blade between them. The sharpening device (10) has a middle piece (12), at the sides of which are two side pieces (24,26) which are pivotably located, having first parallel flanges (38). The flanges in an effective position are located beneath and at right-angles to a lower part of the middle piece, forming between them the slot. Each side piece also has a second flange extending above the middle piece lower part and forming a grip for pivoting the side pieces around locating points in the middle piece. The side piece flanges (38) are connected to each other by a part of the side running along the outside of the middle piece lower part and which in the effective position clamps against the outside a grinding paper which bridges over the bottom of the slot. |
