The invention concerns a motor vehicle chassis (10) comprising at least a central bearing structure (12) whereon are mounted suspension members (18, 20) of the vehicle running gears and at least a floor element. The invention is characterised in that the central structure (12) comprises at least two transverse structural elements generally shaped like front and rear panels (14, 16), made in particular of aluminium or aluminium alloy which are linked by a series of longitudinally oriented parallel side-members (22, 24, 26) each of which consists of part of a profiled section, made in particular of aluminium or aluminium alloy, whereof two front (28) and rear (31) segments are bonded to the structural front (14) and rear (16) panels respectively.
