The invention concerns a building component (1) for making a retaining wall. The invention also concerns a retaining wall consisting of a plurality of said building components (1). The invention is characterised in that the component comprises a central part (2) and two lateral elements (3, 4). This arrangement may be modulated to produce several structural configurations. The invention is characterised in that the central part (2) and the lateral elements (3, 4) have side walls with a specific profile which is either concave or convex. The walls with concave and convex profile are complementary to ensure co-operation between several identical building components (1).
