Contact pipe comprises: a pipe body (2) containing a coaxial through opening (4) for a welding wire; and a receiving opening (5) in which a guide bush (11) is inserted. The guide bush consists of a material suitable for guiding the wire and contains a coaxial passage (13) which likewise forms an axial section of the through opening. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a contact pipe. Preferred Features: A current transfer bush (12) made from metallic graphite, brush material, copper enriched with copper or a copper alloy enriched with graphite is inserted into the receiving opening. The guide bush is made from an electrically non-conducting ceramic. The pipe body is made from copper, copper alloy, aluminum or aluminum alloy.
